The playbook never changes, only the names of the characters and their depths of depravity. Every day brings new accusations, new needs, more lies and more criminality. History and reality is fake news, a hoax to be ignored. Friends are enemies. Citizens are insurgents or terrorists if not compliant supplicants. Resistance is treason. Don’t believe what you see, read or hear. Obey or be imprisoned, deported or killed. This is what happens when you don’t care about people, only your own ideology.
Another great piece, Rekha. Sadly, every day is another “WTF Day” and reminds us how many Trump-like people inhabit America. It’s depressing but your writings help lift my spirits!
This corruption of the justice system is right at the top of the awful things Trump has done to our country. He has undermined too many Americans’ faith in a nation of laws. It’ll be hard to restore faith once he is finally gone from the stage. Which I eagerly await.
If the power is coming from "the people" I find it hard to believe this nightmare can not be stopped! Our Constitution is violated every day, and the courts quibble over details or accept appeals to allow it to continue as they fine judges who will accept fascism as OK! WE ARE THE POWER! Our Rrepresentatives and Senators, need to accept that fact, and answer to the people or we find someone who will in the next election, soon to be upon us. Even in that, with only two parties, that can not be assured. It is the only way this situation can be moderated in some way. The more we work to create additional parties only assures the people will reach a point where all voices will be heard; in order to rule they can not allow some fool to find every loop hole to slide through without immediate reprocussions!
Regarding the midterms, I don’t think we have to worry too much about large numbers of people being complacent. I do, though, fear that more opponents of Trumpism’s crimes and excesses may, in their righteous (or self righteous) indignation, blunder in making own goals, so to speak, as did the group who barged into a Minnesota church and disrupted a worship service. Organizers and activists for peace and social justice must be careful not to play into the stereotypes peddled by the radical Right.
We need to be looking for more and better ways to work with people with whom we may disagree on some issues in order to achieve our common goals. There are those on the Right who are disgusted by the actions of genocidal pedophiles who have infested our society and corrupted our government. It won’t do to let ourselves be provoked into counterproductive actions.
It will be difficult enough to deal with the false flag and psyops shenanigans that are likely coming.
Simply put, the guy who praised Al Capone in public reveals that he wants Godfather status. The guy behaves like a mobster out in the open for all to see.
Republicans have revealed they worship this open example of vice.
Not gambling, drugs, or prostitution.
But lying, cheating, extorting, running a protection racket? Hell, yeah.
Whatever do you mean, Chris? “Not gambling, drugs, or prostitution.”
If you think the corruption in Official Washington in both parties doesn’t include gambling, drugs, prostitution and worse you are leading a sheltered life. Our so-called leaders have covered up a pedophile blackmail espionage ring, more like a traveling circus, at the highest levels of government for decades and continue to attempt to do so. They gamble with our lives and our children’s and grandchildren’s futures every day.
This "both sides" game is what gets things done when it's done right. For instance, Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY) came together across party lines to get a near unanimous vote on legislation that demands the release of the Epstein files. It's called cooperation, Chris. That is the best way to fight entrenched corruption in politics.
Rather difficult to get there when the President finds primary candidates who agree with him to run against you with plenty of money who follow him! That fear keeps people from standing up and doing what they know is right!
Agreed. But change is in the air. Trumpism’s crimes and excesses are so blatantly unconstitutional and counterproductive in so many ways that they simply cannot continue. Increasing numbers of Americans are disgusted by the butt-ugly stupidity of self-aggrandizing narcissism and iniquity. If votes are counted and reported accurately in the next election (a big IF) something like sanity will prevail.
Genocide is a dealbreaker. Decency, integrity, honesty, truth, justice, and mercy—universal values—will triumph.
As my mother ued to say, "If wishes was fishes, we'd all have a fry", to assume things will get better, because people simply want it to, is wildly optimistic. You absolutely said it correctly, Trump's actions are "Blatantly" unconstitutional! So how many more unconstitutional things does it take to impeach him? Or simply remove him as someone who should not be in his position? If you or I violated the Constitution how long would it take for us to be prosecuted? How many more people will have to suffer from his racist elimination of immigrants that he deems the wrong color? How many illegal wars will we allow him to start without consent of Congress that kills un-numbered people? When is enough simply enough to get action that is appropriate to stop this all together?
I should have known you still wouldn’t get my point after a full day. Just keep in mind those who work at Fox also call themselves journalists. Keep twisting what I said. Bye, this time for sure, little guy.
I do wish some enterprising journalist or student or lawyer, someone who can/will comb through ICE/DHS files and other records and report out [even beyond the %% & ## you mention] the number of children [most of whom probably don't have criminal records] and US Citizens and Tribal members have been swept up. Maybe an FOIA suit? I doubt ICE has jurisdiction over them, but it apparently believes it does. We can't wait until the Dems take charge of one house of Congress for hearings.
Which paper do you suppose will threaten to run that information that wants to face Trump in court when the stakes continue to get in the millions and now billions of dollars! Court cases that he has been known to drag out for years just to eventually get his way that costs the paper a fortune they will never recover! Simply to find a paper that isn't already controled by people who aren't in favor of a fascist is likely going to be tough to find with a large scale readeership. Freedom of speech does have costs associated with it!
Well, not really "like," as I indicated but certainly agree. Our country is led by the dipknobs we left behind in sixth grade.

Hard to say which of his three characteristics are more evident: megalomania, psychopathy, or moronic. Equal parts, perhaps.

Thanks Joel. Seeing the passion in that room really lifted mine.

What is your suggestion to get Congressional Democrats to grow a spine?
Did you mean Congressional Republicans?
No. I mean Congressional Democrats, their leadership, and specifically the sinful seven who voted to fund ICE.
"The worst of the worst." Are we talking about the people being deported or the people doing it?

Are you not paying attention?
Not gonna play this “both sides” game. Pay attention. Bye, bye.

Organize. Organize. Organize.

I agree, but the third of American voters who don't read and would never watch or listen to hearings are a tough nut to crack.
